Varicent Announces Former IBM Chief Economist and Chief Analytics Officer Dr. Martin Fleming as its New Chief Revenue Scientist

November 17, 2020 – Toronto, ON – Varicent, the leading provider of next-generation Sales Performance Management (SPM) software, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Martin Fleming to the Varicent team as Chief Revenue Scientist. Dr. Fleming brings with him a wide range of pertinent industry experience, knowledge, and expertise to help strengthen Varicent’s already vibrant and robust leadership team.

Led by CEO Marc Altshuller, Varicent is an SPM software provider, helping organizations worldwide drive growth and achieve maximum ROI for go-to-market strategies. In this newly created role, Dr. Fleming will begin by working closely with Dr. Jing Shyr, Varicent’s Chief Data Scientist, Dr. Joel Shapiro, Chief Analytics Officer, and Varicent’s product teams to complement their work focused on making Varicent the industry-leader in delivering cutting-edge capabilities across sales Planning, revenue Operations and variable Pay programs (POP).

Dr. Fleming is skilled in data science, machine learning, AI, and go-to-market strategies. During his 20+-year tenure at IBM, he led the company’s data science function and served as IBM’s Chief Economist. Dr. Fleming has been published in several economic journals, as well as The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He has also recently begun as a Fellow with The Productivity Institute at the University of Manchester, where he is leading research focused on the intersection of productivity, technology, and transformation.

“Varicent helps sellers and their managers improve their productivity with powerful technology that leverages AI and machine learning,” said Fleming. Businesses who apply these types of technologies have been shown to outperform their own prior performance and, in many cases, outperform their peers. I’m excited to reunite with my former colleagues—including Marc and Jingand to work with the entire Varicent team and its ecosystem of partners and customers. It’s an exciting time as Varicent continues to infuse more and more intelligence into its platform, and as both Symon.AI and lead-to-revenue take flight.”

“Martin is forward-thinking and innovative, with expertise in creating ground-breaking global strategies. He also has vast experience in growing both top and bottom-line performance by turning data into evidence to drive smarter decisions,” said Marc Altshuller, CEO of Varicent. “He has been a long-time champion of the deployment of technology across business processes and has a deep-rooted understanding of the critical role data and technology play in the future of SPM.
